day 23 (bonus)

NEVER LOST A BATTLE

John 16:33 (NASB): I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.”

daily devotional

The end of the 21st chapter of Joshua is an incredible climax of God’s promises and provision coming into full fruition for His people. It had been an incredible journey involving all sorts of twists and turns. There were moments of wandering in the wilderness. There were seasons of trusting God for provision, day by day and step by step. There were times where they had to choose so intently to follow God, as He would lead them with a cloud by day and fire by night.

Make no mistake, His people had their issues. When they chose to live by sight, and not faith, they found trouble.

There were seasons of exile, imprisonment, punishment, and pain.

There were moments of compromise, capitulating, and cynicism. There were days of indifference and there were times they lacked gratitude.

But God had made a promise long before, and here we are… generations later, His people finally seeing the full scope of His faithfulness.

So the Lord gave Israel all the land which He had sworn to give to their fathers, and they took possession of it and lived in it. And the Lord gave them rest on every side, in accordance with everything that He had sworn to their fathers, and no one of all their enemies stood before them; the Lord handed all their enemies over to them. Not one of the good promises (NOT ONE WORD) which the Lord had made (SPOKEN) to the house of Israel failed; everything came to pass.

God, in His goodness and faithfulness, gave them the promised land which He had sworn to give to their fathers

.God, in His goodness and faithfulness, gave them rest on every side, in accordance with exactly everything that He had sworn to give to their fathers. God, in His goodness and faithfulness, even handed all their enemies over to them, leaving none to stand before them.

There is not one thing – not one of the good promises which God had made to His people that failed.

God never fails. NEVER. God’s plans always succeed, and God’s promises always come into fruition. Even through seasons when we are unfaithful, apathetic, and ungrateful, God never fails, and God never forsakes us. We can count on Him. His Word is sure, His faithfulness is steady, and His promises are certain.

Our role is to live humbly, repentant, and to fully follow God in obedience. We are to do all He asks, and we are to take possession of His promises.

We walk in faith, not by sight.

We can be confident today in God’s word because – just as it says in Joshua – not ONE WORD of our God will ever fail. Everything He says is true, right, and good.

May the truth of this word fill every heart and every soul with complete confidence: Our God can do all things, but fail.

PRAYER:

Thank You, Father, that You are altogether faithful and absolutely powerful. Thank You that there is nothing that You cannot do, and thank You that You never fail. I praise You because this truth fills my heart with hope, giving me confidence that, no matter what I face or endure, I know You are with me. I belong to You, and You are my God! You always see through to Your promises, and You are faithful, good, and generous to provide in every way. You are a trustworthy and true God!
